The Year Zero

This is London – 2009

with 7 comments

This was London last night:

A peaceful evening at Sheridan’s. He made a soufflé, came out better than expected. We had champagne (he hardly had any!) and I had a fair amount of Guinness, too. A very low key evening. First time I’ve ever stayed over at his as I live down the road. He’d made up the spare room which was comfortable (king-size bed! I’m not used to that).

I made my beef in Guinness casserole and friends are coming round later for that. Then round to other friends this evening for a bite to eat and a catch up.

Hope y’all had a good one.

  1. Happy New Year! We had fireworks, not quite as spectacular but even so collective sparklers are still fantastic.

  2. Thanks for the link, Milo. The BBC’s iplayer doesn’t ‘work’ over here. Impressive display but after about 2 minutes of any fireworks display I start to think of the money spent !

Anyway a very Happy New Year to you.

  4. I miss those bells. Amazing fireworks – the London Eye is the Harbour Bridge of the northern hemisphere. Happy 2009!

  5. Colleen – agreed, Happy New Year!

SB – interesting, I didn’t realise youtube was locking bbc stuff to region now. That’s really annoying – doubly so as you are a license payer! :P And oh, Sheridan said exactly the same thing re: money spent!

    Lula – thx!

Sven – sounds like an experience spending it down under for sure! Happy New Year!

  6. You didn’t fancy a trip down to the Thames to watch the sparkles from there? No? Don’t blame you – me neither.

  7. Vic – definitely done! I did it one year only – for millennium – and I swore I would never do it again after that.
