The Year Zero

Because I’m worth it

with 5 comments

I may have gained 14 lbs in the past year. But I no longer have any spots. A good thing for someone in their early 30s. They had bugged me on and off for two decades.

My skin is better than it’s ever been. I’ve been using products from the Men Expert range by L’Oreal daily for the last 1+ year. Not sure if it’s because of that – or because I’ve finally grown out of it.

It may sound vain – but I couldn’t imagine not using moisturising products in the morning now. My skin would feel totally exposed to the ravages of this big, polluted city.

  1. My 11 year old is starting to get spots and I so feel for her. Hope she doesn’t get it as badly as I did. Luckily best friend’s husband is a dermatologist….

  2. Spots = Pimples? If so, then let me just say that I have been waging a war against those fuzzing bastardoz for the past four years. I went through high school with nary a blemish and I thought that I was possibly one of the lucky few that could get through puberty sans acne. But then college came and so went my self-esteem. BOOOOOOOO.

  3. This city does awful things to your skin. Mine cleared up pretty quickly when we last went to Brasil, but within days of being back home it was horrible again.

  4. I had my first ever facial yesterday and I am now officially hooked. I don’t know how I got to 30 without one, but I’m never going without again!

  5. Birdie – there doesn’t seem much rhyme or reason to who gets it and who doesn’t. I still get the odd one which is annoying.

Josh – ah, not good. I can empathise. No real cure as such but last time I needed drugs for them (about 1.5 yrs ago) I was put on antibiotics and actually, they worked. Took about 6 weeks to kick in but made big difference.

Sookie – agreed. A lot of pollution here and a lot of germs and bacteria (in tube etc).

Sven – I’m keen to hear more! Not had one but like the sound of it.
