Wit & Wisdom

Going to Starbucks for coffee is like going to prison for sex. You know you’re going to get it, but it’s going to be rough.

– Australian comedian Adam Hills, quoted on the BBC

  1. Mancais you sound like the husband… he said when we were in London “at least MANCHESTER doesn’t have these hideous places”… then we moved up here and they’re everywhere!

I *love* Starbucks but yes, I do find some branches’ coffee is decidedly un-smooth. The one near our old office in HS was always quite good. Can you believe Alty, where I work now (always classed as quite posh) doesn’t have one!

  3. Vic – lol, irony is I go there every day. Spend a fortune in that place.

    Derek – indeed! 😉

Mancais – it’s OK. Bit pricey but you get used to it. I also like Caffe Nero.

Jen – I love coffee in general and it’s a bit like with wine and gin. I’m not actually THAT discerning so long as it’s one of the main brands.

PS These ‘wit and wisdom’ quotes (I’ll probably do a few more) are lifted from The Week which is the weekly news magazine I subscribe to (best of the UK and international media).
