Shopping in London’s West End yesterday afternoon prior to meeting friends for dinner was horrendous. Sooooooooooo many people. A quite ridiculous number. And the weather was awful. Very cold with drizzly rain. Queues at the tills in some of the shops were unbelievably long. Most unpleasant.
The only thing I bought was scent. Dolce & Gabbana’s Le Bateleur which smells divine. Really floral but quite spicy. And a steal at £34 for 100ml at John Lewis (most perfumes cost that much for 50ml). Wasn’t in the sale though!
I’d read about it in The Independent in their ’10 best fragrances for men’ feature earlier this year:
From D&G’s first fragrance collection, Le Bateleur evokes the personality of ‘the seducer’. Spicy top notes give way to a fresh, aquatic heart on a cedarwood and Vetyver base for a distinctive but not overpowering scent.
I’d certainly recommend it.
After shopping I met friends at the Devonshire Pub off Piccadilly Circus, then on to De Hems (a Flemish bar) on Shaftesbury Avenue, then on to our favourite Chinese near Leicester Square where we had a lovely meal, then on to the Slug & Lettuce on Lisle Street in Chinatown for one, and then headed home. I forgot just how strong Belgian beer is and woke up with a mild hangover this morning. Hopefully having done so will put me off drinking too much tonight at the New Year’s eve dinner party I’m going to.
