The Photojournalist

“The camera is superior to the eye, and the photograph can, and ideally should, portray the world more graphic than reality itself.” Andreas Feininger was one of LIFE magazine’s first and most artistic photographers and photojournalists. Perversely his most famous image is the uncharacteristic 1951 shot, “The Photojournalist” featuring prize-winning Magnum photographer Dennis Stock … looking like some kind of bionic creature … with a Leica III to his face, one eye hidden by the ancillary viewfinder, the other by the lens. I really like this photo and want to get a print I can put on the wall (when I move).
