Party season

These days I’m quite partial to quiet nights in – dinner, TV, a drink perhaps. This week, as is common in the final weeks running up to Christmas, it’s a case of burning the candle both ends. Way too much going on. Out every evening at an assortment of work-related functions.

Monday night was at a wine bar with the European leadership team (I have to report to that team once a month). A convivial evening of prosecco and assorted tapas-style dishes.

Last night a client party where the mulled wine and canapes didn’t stop flowing.

Tonight, a leaving do for a senior director, in-house. I stuck to vodka and then gin from the open work bar, accompanied by copious slices of Pizza Express takeaway pizza.

Tomorrow another work function (of mulled wine and mince pies). Friday I’m working from home (and can’t wait – though I have a lot to do). I’ve hardly cycled at all this week. Waking up most days tired, dehydrated and fractionally hung over – and have masses of actual work to finish between now and the end of the year.

It’s the party season.

  1. I guess when it’s packed in like that it seems like ‘oh no not another one..’ despite the different surroundings etc.
I haven’t had ANY Christmas parties yet. Hubby’s will be in January (in a very Bah-Humbug way)..
