War Horse

Finally saw the original stage play of War Horse last night, at the New London Theatre in the West End. Had been wanting to see it for ages but it’s either booked solid or or just feels a bit too expensive relative to other stuff on. But we managed to get really good seats for £25 pp (a lot of theatre offers on at this time of year).

It was a complete coup de théâtre. One of the best things I’ve see on the stage in more than a decade of regular theatre-going in London. Such powerful emotional resonance. The horses – wow; absolutely extraordinary. Sure – the film was pretty good – but the original stage production really is something special.
