Still entranced by Lolita

How many more posts will I make on the subject of Lolita? I know not. The obsession is unhealthy. Rest assured, though, that the obsession is with the novel itself – specifically, the prose – rather than with the character of Lolita (for, hopefully, rather obvious reasons).

As I am going to have a quiet night in this evening, I think I might re-watch the movie (Jeremy Irons version).

  1. I remember we corresponded on this subject donkey’s ago. Great book, and the film isn’t bad either. I’m not a big fan of Irons and I think that only adds to the general atmosphere!

  2. I’m a big fan of the book (recent review here: Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov ) but I haven’t seen Irons as HUmbert yet – it’s only a few days ago that I finally watched Kubrick’s version! From the images, it looks like they captured more of Lolita’s (supposed) character with Dominique Swain than they did with Sue Lyon (as I read her, anyway).
